Make golf ball sized portions of dough and place the dough balls onto lined baking sheets. Bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, until the centers of the cookies are just barely set.
If your ingredients is a little short of making it to the top of the jar, just fill up with extra M&Ms or chocolate chips. Kids can even eat a few before they make it. Or use some tissue paper or fabric just to fill in the space at the top.

To make this a truly zero waste gift, use a jar that you already have. Perhaps a cleaned ut pasta sauce or jam jar. You can use felt or a scrap of fabric to cover the lid of the jar to make it look nicer if you wish. If you have a zero waste shop near you, bulk buy as many of the ingredients as you can. You can use scraps of paper and card from sources such as an envelopes or used greeting cards to write the recipe instructions.
Make it look pretty with a cork lid
You could replace the lid of a normal jam jar with a piece of cork which has been cut to the right size. You can buy cork from a craft shop Or you can buy ready cut different sized cork lids to accommodate different jars. Cork is an eco friendly material as it biodegrades. Also you don’t have to cut down a tree to harvest the cork.
